Because some people already asked if they could make themselves one of those guys and a breedsheet always helps, here is the breedsheet for my avisi. c:

Naturally Hugh also found some more about our pretty vakyrie, the avisus, Hilda in his clever book. ;3

:bulletred:The Avisus:bulletred:

The Avisus is a widely spread breed of pegasus that can be found pretty much all over the world. They adabt very easiely to new situations because of their high intelligence and so also can be tamed fairly easiely. Most very quickly notice it’s easier to live with humans than fend for themselves and so gladly stay with them.

The coat of an Avisus MUST resamble the pattern of an existing bird. NO made-up pattern is allowed on a pure avisus. There may be white markings such as stockings or blazes as well as paints, though. There are no grey avisi as well as no roan avisi.
The bird’s name is what their color is called. All body types are allowed with avisi.
Usually the body type matches the bird pattern. For example a hummingbird coloured avisus will probably be a have a falabella built while a bald eagle coloured avisus will probably have a draft built. Sometimes there might be expectations, though.

Their style of flight always matches the bird’s their coat colour matches as well as the shape of their wings. Avisi do NOT neigh, snort, nicker or make any other horse noise. Avisi make the noise of the bird their colour matches. So, they screach, cry, sing or chirp.

Avisi have NO fur, just FEATHERS. Their entire body is covered in feathers of various size. Even the underside of their tail that very much resambles a normal horse’s tail is made of very long, thin feathers. The upper side of the tail matches the bird they have their colour from in shape. They need this bird-tail to keep balance while flying. They have no mane, but can fluff up their feathers just like birds.
Their character often matches the bird pattern. There may be exceptations, though.

Generally Avisi come in a great variety of personalities. They are, however, all rather curious, easiely adapt to new situations and in whole are more intelligent than normal horses. To some point they all understand the human language. Parrot-coated avisi might even be able to reproduce human words, yet, just like parrots they can not speak in long, full sentances. They can use the words they learned pretty well, though.
Their nutrition matches normal horses. Their livespan is about the same as a human’s. Avisi generally stay active and in good shape for very long.

Born with fluffy, grey baby feathers, avisi lose them about one month after they are born. They then grow their final coat. With about months they start to fly and fly safely with about 6 months. They can be ridden with about 3 years.

Breeding:

Only avisi that have an existing bird’s pattern can count as pure avisi.
However the bird pattern of the foal not neccessariely depands on the parents. A swallow coloured avisi might as well throw a hawk coloured or duck oloured foal depanding on how dominant the songbird pattern or another pattern is passed. They pass patterns in bird families like ‘parrots’ or ‘songbirds’. Avisi pattern pass in bird families. A dominant bird-of-prey gene with an eagle pattern so might likely throw a hawk, too. The white markings and paint gene pass like with normal horses. It is also possible to have a foal with markings not matching an existing bird, these can not count as a pure avisus though, but avisus cross.
The foals are all born with fluffy, grey baby feathers. They lose them about one month later and grow their final coat.

Dos and Don'ts:
No calling a certain bird pattern your own. The bird pattern is the colour of the avisus, it would be like calling ‘bay’ with normal horses your own. There can be more than one avisus with the same bird pattern.
They do NOT make horse noises, they make bird noises.
They have feathers, NO fur.
They have no mane and a bird’s tail with longer feathers resambling a horse’s tail on the underside to be able to whip away flies.
They are all born grey and fluffy.
They may have white markings and come in paints.
They come in all existing bird patterns.
They often resamble the bird to detail. Like, a chicken will have the red skin comb on the head and chin.
They have leathery skin shields on their legs.
